AUTISM & ADHD ASSESSMENTS
Supporting neurodivergent women in Camp Hill and online throughout PA & NJ
You know you’re different, but you’re not sure why.
Are you…
Wondering if you might have ADHD or Autism?
Worried that you’re “making up” your autism or ADHD? Like maybe it’s all in your head?
Wanting a formal assessment by a mental health professional who is neurodivergent-affirming?
Hoping that an assessment can help you access accommodations at school or work?
Interested in learning more about your identity as a neurodivergent individual and the “why” behind some of how you act and feel?
Maybe you’ve seen videos on TikTok and Instagram that have given you some helpful information about neurodivergence, but you want to talk to someone about the specifics of your experience. Mental health spaces can be stressful (and even traumatizing) for neurodivergent folks, so it’s important to you to sit down with someone who is an expert in this area.
Because the last thing you want is to feel more confused, judged, shamed, or blamed.
Go from confusion to clarity.
If you are ready to learn more about your identity as a neurodivergent woman, then an Autism or ADHD assessment might be exactly what you’re looking for. We’ll dive into all the unique and personal ways that neurodivergence shows up in your life. Then, we can customize your therapy to this unique identity.
Assessments can also open doors to allow you to access accommodations based on your needs—the things you might need at work or in school to set yourself up for success. And when you finally understand and accept yourself—”quirks” and all—you can experience deeper feelings of connection & acceptance from others.
It begins with a neurodiversity-affirming assessment, and everything ripples out from there.
How does it work?
-
We will meet for a 2 hour appointment, using 2 assessment tools during the session. Then, we will discuss the results and my recommendations for support moving forward. If desired, I’m also happy to provide a letter to your doctor, school, or workplace.
-
The Autism Assessment is a total of 4 hours long, divided into 2 separate appointments. During the first appointment, I will interview you about your life and background. In the second appointment, we will talk about the results of the assessment and recommendations for therapy that are customized to you.
An important note:
Assessments are different from neuropsychological evaluations and do not focus on other mental health related diagnoses (only Autism or ADHD). Prior to the assessment, it’s very important to double check the requirements of your school, doctor, or workplace to confirm the qualifications they require of the assessor.
Bee-You Counseling cannot guarantee that the assessment will be honored by your doctor, school or workplace. It’s best to thoroughly research this before the assessment process begins.

Frequently asked questions
-
An assessment can give you much needed clarity about who you are and how your brain works. It can also provide insight into what type of therapy would be most helpful for you. Assessments can also allow for you to receive accommodations in school, the workplace, or medical settings. That can be a source of ongoing support in your daily life.
-
During an assesesment you need to bring yourself and a favorite fidget of your choice! All assessments done at Bee-You Counseling are done interview style between you and the assessor. You are welcome to include family members or friends during the process but should let your evaluator know beforehand.
-
This is a personal decision and many people have differing feelings on this. On the one hand, a diagnosis can be helpful to gain clarity and to open the door for accommodations in school, the workplace, or medical settings.
On the other hand, there are things that some may consider drawbacks or risks to receiving a diagnosis. This could include: Potential denial of citizenship/immigration status to some countries, impedement of gender transitions, potential legal drawbacks, potential denial of some healthcare, and possible discrimination.
If you are not seeking a diagnosis for a specific reason, it’s perfectly okay to remain “self-diagnosed” and still explore your identity in the context of neurodivergent-affirming therapy.
